Karoo Adventures offers 4×4 trails for every type of off road-vehicle, quads and mountainbikes, from a casual drive in the mountains, to more challenging adventures!
Karoo Adventures’ Wagon Wheel 4×4, quad and mountainbike trail is situated only 40km from Montagu on the R318, on the farm Koeniekraal. Our proximity to town makes it easy to visit us for a day trail. We have various routes here, ranging from less-challenging, to very difficult. Our other route is the Winter Trek Route on the farm Zoutrivier, about 16km from the Wagon Wheel Trails. Directions to reach us are available on the Contact Page.
Accommodation
We offer accommodation, which varies from basic campsites to comfortable chalets. We have three campsites, Peerboom Camp, Luiperdskloof Camp and Kareekloof Camp and a chalet at Zoutrivier and No45 Survivor Cabin. An easy access road from the beginning of the trail makes it possible for visitors to enter and drive directly to the campsites and chalets, and they are accessible by any vehicle.
These are working farms. Koeniekraal farm has been in the Le Roux family for four generations and is also the setting for most of the Wagon Wheel 4×4 Trail. From time to time, Danie, the owner, will have his sheep grazing on this farm, and for the rest of the time it will be inhabited leopards and caracals. Zoutrivier is used part of the year for grazing and also for planting of crops. Come and visit us at Karoo Adventures and experience clean air, beautiful sunsets and star filled skies. You will feel refreshed and the kids will have a blast!
